How You Feel...
- Maybe you are frustrated with the PM's broken promise to change the voting system,
- Worried that your vote will be wasted again,
- Feel like you don't have the time to make Justin Trudeau change his mind.
Why Care Now?
- We have until May 2017 (maybe 2019 with a simplified system) to convince Justin Trudeau and his advisers that they will lose power if they don't implement Proportional Representation (PR)
- On May 31st, 2017 MPs will have a "free vote" to accept the recommendations of the ERRE Committee Report (To implement Proportional Representation and to hold a referendum) Only twenty Liberals need to vote in favour to require a Liberal response. Normally Committee reports are accepted as a matter of course. For the Liberal government to reject the report it called for, is unheard of! Please immediately contact your MP and the PM! - At the moment, 35% of the popular vote can elect a Trump-like majority government. Under a PR system, it would take about 50% to elect that kind of government. That's unlikely in Canada..
- Under PR, you can vote for your values - not strategically to keep a bad government out.
- Parties would need to find common ground to be part of a governing coalition, This favours moderate positions and prevents "policy lurch."

Why it's important to act now, and continuously, over the next few months
Liberal strategists are constantly polling on this issue. If momentum picks up for PR in battleground ridings, the Liberals can be persuaded to keep their promise after all.
